Please read through all the information below regarding the RTA election.
General elections for the RTA will be taking place this year. The election date is set for April 28, 2022.
If you are interested in running for a position or nominating someone, please fill out and submit the petition for the General Election and/or NYSUT/AFT Delegate (petitions are attached and will be put on the RTA website).
The RTA Nominating committee has put forward the following slate of candidates for the upcoming election:
President: Christina Steurrys
Vice President: Julie Ramos
Secretary: Jerrad Buttenschon
Treasurer: Josette Canarelli
Exec Team: Mike Scerra, AJ Spado, Larry Heldman
Any member of the Association may submit a candidate for an elected office by presenting to their building representative a petition signed by ten (10) members of the Association. Completed petitions must be sent to Lynne Duffy at RFA through inter-school mail or regular mail to the RTA office (Attn: Lynne Duffy, RTA, 1721 Black River Blvd., L-4, Rome, NY 13440) to be received no later than APRIL 7, 2022.
Nominees for President and Vice-president shall have been members of the Association for at least two (2) consecutive years prior to the election. They will be elected jointly, as a team.
Make sure to include a brief bio so all members can make an informed choice. The bio should include some information about your previous experience with the RTA or other union activity, and a description of why you are running. Information on all candidates will be included in the ballot envelopes sent to members.
